Summer Excursions is a small-group learning camp for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Children entering first, second or third level in the fall are eligible to take “educational excursions” through language, reading and math. The camp is divided into two thematic units and is limited to seven students per group. Groupings are determined on the basis of age and individual student needs. Camper/staff ratio is 7:1.
Academic skills in oral and written language, reading, and math, are integrated into stimulating thematic content to ensure maximum success and enjoyment. During this summer session of camp, students will study arctic and desert. Students will have many opportunities to compare and contrast the inhabitants, climate, and characteristics of each region. Campers bring a sack lunch daily and drinks are provided. This summer, students will be creating their camp own t-shirts.
Summer Excursions times have been increased by fifteen minutes for each camp day. This increase in time is to provide students more practice and emphasis in a specific area of need. Possible areas include math, reading, social cues, and problem solving. Students will be placed in areas based on review of student files.
