Founded in 1969 and made up of approximately 600 members, the Guild provides the Atlanta Speech School with classroom and media center volunteers and financial support as well as generating community interest in the School and its services. Membership is open to anyone interested who would like to give support to the School. Dues are $30.00 for active members and $50.00 for sustaining members. Parents of Atlanta Speech School students are encouraged to join and participate in the activities. In addition to volunteering in the classroom, the major activities that the Guild volunteers support are: THE GALA: The oldest running event in Atlanta. Held the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the annual event (cocktail reception and silent auction) is open to families and other community supporters of the School. Proceeds from the silent auction support financial aid for the Speech School. The Gala this fall will be held at the Biltmore on West Peachtree on the evening of Sunday, November 18, 2007. If you would like to attend or get involved in the Gala please contact Nola Lucas Stull or Sonja Greenbaum. EASTER EGG HUNT: The event takes place on a Saturday before Easter and is open to both school and area families and friends. The Easter Egg Hunt helps build an awareness of the school in the community. The Egg Hunt date for 2008 will be announced soon! If you are interested in obtaining more information about the Guild's volunteer opportunities, or if you would like to join the Guild, please call the school at (404) 233-5332, ext. 3103.
