Camp GrasshopperEstablished 1976 Camp Grasshopper is a mainstream preschool summer day camp for boys and girls who are three to six years of age. All campers must be three years old by June 1. Previous school experience is required and all children must be potty trained. The camp serves children from throughout the community as well as children who attend the Atlanta Speech School. Camp teachers and counselors lead small groups of children in activities that are fun, creative, and developmentally suited for their ages. Camper/staff ratio is 12:2. Camp Day Camp Grasshopper operates Monday through Friday. Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All campers bring a bag lunch from home and the school provides lemonade. At the end of each camp session, there is a Grasshopper Day Celebration with a pizza and coke party during lunch. A typical camp day begins with morning carpool and a short homeroom period. Counselors help bring campers from their cars to homeroom classes. After homeroom, the campers rotate through five activity periods, which include music, sports, art, drama & storytelling, and nature. After activity rotations, all campers enjoy lunchtime and playground time together. The camp day ends with afternoon carpool. Camp Dates for 2008 Camp Grasshopper offers three two-week sessions. Each camp session has a separate theme.
