The 2018 Language and Literacy Gala
Raising financial aid funds for children in need of specialized instruction and early intervention services
The 45th annual Language and Literacy Gala will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Atlanta History
Center. The Gala is the school’s largest fundraising event of the year and all proceeds directly support our
need-based financial aid program. This year the Atlanta Speech School will award $1.5 million in financial aid,
representing 11% of the operating budget.
“Within the first six months of attending the
Hamm Center, our daughter who was born deaf
was making sounds, trying to say her name.
It’s hard to describe what it feels like when you
don’t think you’ll ever hear your child’s voice and
then you hear her speak…it’s a miracle.”

“When I picked up Jeff after his first day in the Wardlaw
School, he immediately said, ‘I LOVE this place!’
Then he looked up at me with huge crocodile
tears falling from his eyes and said,
‘Mom, you are right. I actually am smart.’ ”
summer programs and professional development center all share one common mission: to work within each program and
collaborate across all programs to help each person develop his or her full potential through language and literacy.
