POSITION SUMMARY:
The Atlanta Speech School is seeking a school nurse for its afterschool and extended day programs. This is a part-time position (15 hours per week) (Monday – Friday; 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) The school nurse is in charge of all health and safety issues in the school related to students and staff. This person is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school health services. The school nurse serves in the roles of direct care provider, collaborator/advocate, educator, and health counselor for the entire school.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Provide health care consultation and direct care for Speech School students and staff
- Administer medication to students with written permission from parents; maintain log and accurate records of treatments and medication dispensed
- Maintain contact with parents regarding student medical information, referrals and reports
- Coordinate and participate in the establishment, review, and implementation of school health services, policies and procedures
- Document, compile, and analyze data for reports on school health services
- Participate in the development of the School’s emergency health and crisis plan and establish and implement protocol for emergency medical treatment
- Implement communicable disease control in the school, including monitoring, surveillance, and disease prevention
- Track and follow up on immunization records to assure compliance with state health department requirementsServe as liaison between the school and local health service agencies/providers and community resources
- Coordinate the establishment of guidelines, procedures, equipment maintenance and training in First Aid/CPR and AED programs for staff
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. degree in nursing and current Georgia registered nurse license
- Current CPR/first aid certificate and first aid instructor certificate
- Minimum of two years experience working with children, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to adapt to rapid transitions between varied tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills

Program Information:
The Anne & Jim Kenan Preschool of the Atlanta Speech School has a 2024-2025 opening for an Assistant Teacher. The Kenan Preschool is a community preschool program that serves typically developing children, two to five years of age. An emphasis on research-based practices in the construction of the deep reading brain and for language and early literacy development is integrated throughout the curriculum to prepare children with a solid foundation for learning. A deep understanding of the science behind the development of the deep reading brain is essential to the work in Kenan. The Kenan Preschool is accredited by the SAIS and is licensed by Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. (Watch a short video about Kenan here.)
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Diligence in following policies and procedures regarding children’s supervision and safety.
Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a teaching team.
Ability to provide an appropriate speech and language model for children.
A commitment to ongoing professional development is required. Must attend language and early literacy training as specified by the program coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher.
- Assist in implementing lesson plans for large group instruction, small group instruction, and individual readiness activities.
- Assist in implementing behavior guidance strategies to promote positive behavior and self-reliance in children.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The lead teacher is responsible for relying on assessment to inform the creation and delivery of high-quality differentiated educational programming for each child in the class. The lead teacher works collaboratively with teaching team members, specialists and administration serving children who are two years of age. All teachers are expected to have thorough knowledge and understanding of all child- developmental domains including cognitive, language, social/emotional, and motor domains. Instructional planning, classroom organization and management techniques are planned to meet the specific needs of the students in the class. In addition, teachers are expected to have effective teaching skills, an analytical approach to learner differences, differentiate instruction and assume responsibility for monitoring and insuring progress. Lead teachers are expected to consistently perform high quality work with little supervision, work in an efficient manner to effectively manage workload demands and demonstrate an ability and willingness to adapt creatively to varying situations. Knowledge and understanding of research-based practices for language and early literacy instruction are required and additional professional learning opportunities are provided. A growth mindset is critical.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE JOB:
- Plan and implement research-based practices for language and early literacy instruction for all thematic units of study rooted in comprehensive assessment of student learning.
- Maintain a classroom environment that provides optimum support for language and literacy development
- Provide direct instruction, guided practice, and independent activities based on a deep understanding of each child as a learner and a friend
- Foster regular, open, interactive communication with parents through conferences, report writing, parent education meetings, and newsletters

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Reading, Speech-Language Pathology, Early Childhood Special Education, or other related fields from an accredited university
- Current Georgia clear/renewable teaching certificate or eligible for certification
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in an early childhood setting or similar experience demonstrating knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate activities
- Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education and language and early literacy instruction
- Diligence in following policies and procedures regarding children’s supervision and safety
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a teaching team

PRN Learning Lab Provider

Position description
The Atlanta Speech School is currently seeking applicants for the position of Learning Lab Provider. This person would work in person as needed and as determined by the Clinic Director. There is flexibility in the specific weekdays and time frame worked each day.
The Learning Lab offers individual academic intervention in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics for students in preschool through high school. Intervention to improve executive functioning and study skills is also provided. Students receiving services in the Learning Lab typically have language-based learning challenges or learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Learning Lab clients may be current or former Atlanta Speech School students or students from the community, which creates a diverse clientele of children from varied backgrounds.
Our Learning Lab Providers offer high-quality individual intervention using research-based, structured programs. While most children who enroll in the Learning Lab have received a psychoeducational evaluation, some additional assessment is typically completed by the Learning Lab Provider to help guide intervention planning and allow for progress monitoring. When appropriate, Providers consult with classroom teachers to gather and share information that can support the clients’ progress. Written goal summary and discharge summary reports are completed for each client at the beginning and end of their treatment period. Parent conferences at the beginning of the treatment period allow the Learning Lab Provider to review the goals with the parents and establish a pattern of ongoing communication. Parent conferences are also completed when clients are discharged or discontinue services.
Essential candidate qualities, preferences, and skills
- Experience utilizing structured, research-validated academic remediation programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Lindamood Bell, Making Math Real) and providing one-on-one remediation
- Training in assessment and interpretation of results
- Experience working with children with spoken language disorder and learning disabilities
- Ability to outline a structured individualized program of intervention based upon a child’s learning profile
- Ability to establish rapport with children of various ages and backgrounds
- Skill in providing feedback to parents and school personnel
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
Requirements
- Master’s degree in reading, education, special education, speech-language pathology, or a related instructional field
- Certificate of completion of an Orton-Gillingham-based reading program and the associated practicum and/or an evidence-based mathematics instruction program
- Eligibility for Georgia teaching certification

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Preschool Extended Day Program is seeking a full-time Director of Extended Day to lead this program in advancing the mission of the School. The hours are Monday – Friday
11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The person selected for this position will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and guiding the extended day program for children ages two through four years of age. The Director will oversee programing and operations, including staffing and registration of students, and will be responsible for developing a caring, safe environment for children while providing enriching recreational and educational experiences. The Director works collaboratively with the Director of Afterschool, preschool directors, teaching team members, and clinical specialists. Knowledge and understanding of research-based practices for language and literacy instruction is required as the Extended Day Program is an extension of the classroom and its curriculum.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE JOB:
· Provide coaching and mentoring for classroom teachers
· Recognize extended day program coordinators and assistant teachers’ strengths, diplomatically identify areas of improvement, and collaboratively create a plan to address needed areas
· Provide ongoing curriculum review and updates consistent with evidence-based practices
· Identify areas of the curriculum that need to be updated, and also develop, and implement an action plan to address targeted areas
· Communicate with parents about specific aspects of the curriculum, including but not limited to discussing the value of language development for all children as the foundation for future academic development, and sharing the relationship among oral language, reading, and writing
· Assist parents with educational placement decisions
· Plan professional development activities for extended day staff and coordinate with preschool departments to plan joint professional development activities
· Lead cross-departmental activities to broaden the experiences of all children.
· Facilitate Learning Team meetings to discuss student concerns and work collaboratively with various professionals to have a thorough understanding of a child’s learning profile
· Develop student assessment schedule
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Speech Language Pathology, or a related instructional field
- Current Georgia teaching certificate or professional license
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in an early childhood setting or similar experience demonstrating knowledge of preschool curriculum development and planning

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Preschool Extended Day Program is seeking full-time assistant teachers who will assist in advancing the mission of the School by their work. The hours are Monday – Friday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or Monday – Friday 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting in conducting and supervising social/recreational/educational programs and assisting with preparation of classes for children enrolled in the Preschool Extended Day Program. The assistant teacher works collaboratively with teaching team members, specialists and administration serving children who are preschool age. Assistant teachers are expected to consistently perform high quality work and adapt creatively to varying situations. Knowledge and understanding of research-based practices for language and literacy instruction is preferred. Additional professional learning opportunities will be provided. A growth mindset is critical.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A college degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education or a related field is preferred. Must have the ability and willingness to engage with preschool age children and fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the extended day program policies. Previous teaching experience with preschool age children is required.

Children enrolled in the Katherine Hamm Center have access to all sounds of speech through listening technology such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Plan and implement lessons for preschool-aged children who are deaf/hard of hearing and their hearing peers with particular emphasis on speech, language, auditory, and literacy development
- Lead parent conferences at least three times a year
- Maintain an effective system for communicating with parents, colleagues, and outside personnel regarding children’s development
- Work collaboratively with each child’s team to ensure exemplary services are provided for each child
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master’s degree or commensurate experience in Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Communication Disorders, or Speech-Language Pathology
- Georgia certification or eligible for certification

Position Summary:
The Katherine Hamm Center has an opening for a full-time curriculum specialist for the 2024-2025 school year. Consistent with the School’s responsibility to provide each child with the best instruction and care each day, the Curriculum Specialist provides instructional support to the Katherine Hamm Center Preschool’s staff. This person also serves as part of the admissions committee.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and mentoring for classroom teachers
- Recognize teachers’ strengths, diplomatically identify areas of improvement, and collaboratively create a plan to address needed areas
- Support teachers in all academic areas (speech, language, reading, math, social studies, science, written expression)
- Develop teacher’s weekly schedules (to include time with enrichment, speech/language therapists, occupational therapy, and preschool counselors)
- Provide ongoing curriculum review and updates consistent with evidence-based practices
- Identify areas of the curriculum that need to be updated, and also develop, and implement an action plan to address targeted areas
- Communicate with parents about specific aspects of the curriculum, including but not limited to discussing the value of language development for all children as the foundation for future academic development, and sharing the relationship among oral language, reading, and writing
- Plan professional development activities for teachers and coordinate with other preschool departments to plan joint professional development activities
- Examine ideas and implement cross-departmental activities to broaden the experiences of all children
- Analyze standardized testing scores in light of the child’s academic performance in the classroom and understand each child’s unique learning profile
- Recognize indicators for potential learning difficulties
- Interpret psycho-educational evaluations and use the information to improve educational outcomes
- Administer standardized assessments (e.g., TEMA, CTOPP-2)
- Attend and take notes during Staffing meetings to discuss student concerns/opportunities and work collaboratively with various professionals to have a thorough understanding of a child’s learning profile
- Develop student assessment schedule
- Administer screening tests
- Participate on the admissions committee and assist with admissions tours
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Speech-Language Pathology, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related instructional field
- Current Georgia teaching certificate or professional license
- Strong understanding of Auditory-Verbal principles
- Knowledge or cochlear implants, hearing aids, and assistive listening devices
- LSLS Certification preferred
- Minimum two years experience serving as Curriculum Specialist in an early childhood setting or similar experience demonstrating knowledge of preschool curriculum development and planning

K-3 Facilitator job overview: The SOR Coach is responsible for leading the transformation of literacy practices with school and district partners to build literacy infrastructure at the systems- and individual school-level. Specifically, the SOR Coach will work closely with systems and school-level leaders, literacy coaches, teachers, and other instructional staff to design and execute a plan to realize the Science of Teaching Reading is realized across the system including assessment, tiered instruction, intervention, professional development, and data. Based on the Rollins Center model, the SoR Coach will lead the implementation of evidence based practices into classroom instruction and assessment, teacher training, modeling and consultation, the SoR Coach in partnership with school staff, will create opportunities that will significantly enhance teachers’ knowledge and capacity and positively impact children’s literacy outcomes. The Rollins Center Facilitator will actively interact with principals, program developers, literacy coaches, teachers and paraprofessionals to accomplish this goal.
Facilitator Essential Job Duties:
Content Support:
1. Serve as facilitator (i.e., trainer, coach/mentor and consultant) for the faculty and staff at assigned sites.
a. Establish clear goals for professional development of teachers in assigned sites consistent with scientifically based early literacy/language research.
b. Assist the leadership for literacy at the site level in formulating their professional development goals to ensure that language and literacy instruction is research-based and effective.
c. Deliver content knowledge about language and literacy through workshops, book studies, demonstration lessons, etc.
d. Serve as expert teacher of early literacy/language development to model effective strategies for classroom teachers in pre-K through third grade.
e. Coach and support literacy coaches and teachers at assigned sites to implement explicit and systematic instruction base on the Science of Reading.
2. Lead the development of training modules and accompanying materials (e.g., curriculum, video, etc.)
3. Establish timelines and priorities for teacher training and consultation for assigned sites in collaboration with the team.
4. Stay abreast of federal, state, and LEA mandates, policies, and procedures regarding literacy education, early childhood education and special education.
5. Actively seek new information as it becomes available to remain informed of the most current scientifically based literacy research.
6. Participate in evaluation of Rollins Center programs as needed.
7. Participate in research and program evaluation design meetings as needed.
Assessment:
1. Assist in data collection for progress monitoring and needs assessments.
2. Deliver training sessions on interpreting student and teacher data to inform instruction, particularly progress monitoring data.
3. Serve as liaison between Rollins Center evaluation specialist and client centers or schools.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Skills/Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree in Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Education, Reading, or a related field required
· Trained in at least one structured literacy program (e.g., OG, LETRS, Wilson) - highly preferred
· Experience in K-3rd educational programs and/or programs for language and literacy required
· School-based teacher training and coaching experience also desired
· Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills
· Action-oriented, collaborative, flexible, and innovative approach to coaching and mentoring

About the Role: The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy is looking to expand our team with the addition of an experienced Social Media & Communications Manager. The Social Media & Communications Manager will work with our marketing team to oversee interactions with the public through implementing content strategies on social media platforms. This person will also plan, launch and lead paid social campaigns – both timely and within budget – to support our organization’s mission of realizing literacy and justice for every child. In the years ahead, our team is focused on moving from ‘brand awareness’ to brand recognition – we seek to be synonymous with equity-based and best-in-class teacher/educator professional development through our free online Cox Campus. Responsibilities:
- Creates, develops, implements and oversees social media content across multiple platforms. This position will also lead our paid media strategy (including but not limited to building strong ad copy, A/B testing when applicable and ongoing optimization)
- Determines, measures and exceeds ambitious KPIs for social media that align to our vision of literacy and justice for all
- Monitors success of organic social and paid media campaigns and determines ways to optimize paid media for success
- Provides regular reports to show KPI progress and determines necessary changes in real-time

Position Summary:
The Stepping Stones Preschool and Kindergarten seeks to employ a passionate speech-language pathologist to serve as the lead teacher in a classroom for the 2024-2025 school year. The speech language pathologist is responsible for the delivery of a high quality therapeutic and educational experience for each child within a class. As a classroom lead teacher, the speech language pathologist will implement weekly lesson plans that support the Stepping Stones curriculum as well as individualized communication goals to meet the developmental needs of three and four-year-old students. The speech-language pathologist will collaboratively plan and implement daily classroom lessons with the classroom special education teacher, occupational therapist, and assistant teacher.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree in speech/language pathology, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, and a valid Georgia license in Speech/Language Pathology are required. Experience in a school setting is desirable and a background or experience in learning disabilities a plus. Essential Responsibilities and Duties of the Position:
- Collaboratively plan and implement aspects of the therapeutic instructional program for a classroom of ten-twelve children with a variety of communication, motor/sensory, and pre-academic weaknesses.
- Conduct ongoing review and periodic assessment of skill development.
- Facilitate and contribute to at least three conferences per year with parents of each student.
- Contribute to written progress narrative reports for each child on caseload two times per school year.
- Facilitate case management of each student with regard to other services provided in the school or by referral to outside agencies.
- Establish an effective system for communicating with parents, colleagues, and outside personnel regarding each child’s development.
- Work collaboratively with team members to provide quality education for each child.
- Maintain student files and records.
- Must attend Bright from the Start training and other required training as specified by the program coordinator.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
- A current Georgia license or comparable out of state credentials with intent to receive Georgia licensure.
- Certification with American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
- An understanding of the interaction between language, learning, sensory processing, and neuro-motor development
- Experience (and a level of comfort) working with children in a group within a classroom setting, with individualized goals
- Work collaboratively with each child’s team to ensure exemplary services are provided for each child
- A commitment to ongoing professional development is required

- Creatively plan and teach aspects of a high quality therapeutic instructional program for a classroom of 10 to 12 preschool children with a variety of communication and perceptual/sensory-motor delays; addressing sensory processing, regulation, motor skills, and pre-writing readiness (e.g., fine motor skills, visual motor integration, and visual perception).
- Conduct ongoing review and periodic assessment of skill development and prepare written progress reports for each student.
- Contribute to a minimum of three conferences per year with parents of each student.
- Establish an effective system for communicating with parents, colleagues, and outside personnel regarding children's development.
- Work collaboratively with speech language pathologists, special education teachers, and psychologists to ensure exemplary services are provided for each child

The Wardlaw School for children with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities is currently seeking an outstanding professional to serve as a full-time reading specialist. The Wardlaw School is based on a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model where classroom teachers, reading specialists, and speech and language pathologists work together to help each child reach his/her full potential. - Design and implement a plan of instruction for a class of nine or ten children, each with the diagnosis of mild to moderate dyslexia or language-based learning disability. Instructional goals are derived from students’ psycho-educational evaluations and diagnostic teaching.
- Complete two written reports per school year and lead three parent-teacher conferences.
- Support each student in your class as needed to secure other services provided by the school or by referral to outside sources.
- Work within our Integrated Intervention Model™ to establish and implement appropriate language goals for each student within the class setting.
- Engage parents as partners.
- The position is full-time, on campus (5 days per week 7:45-2:45)

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Wardlaw School is dedicated to serving children with average to superior intelligence and mild to moderate language-based learning disabilities including dyslexia (reading disability). Children accepted into the Wardlaw School may exhibit underlying auditory and/or language processing problems that make it difficult for them to learn in their present educational setting. Our students are between the ages of 5 and 12 years old and are in kindergarten through 6th grade. Wardlaw School students typically have a diagnosis of dyslexia or “red flags” for the disorder. They may also have difficulty understanding and/or using spoken language, expressing themselves through written language, or experience mathematical disabilities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wardlaw School for children with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities is currently seeking an outstanding professional to serve as a speech and language pathologist in our multi-disciplinary, collaborative educational environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Plan and implement appropriate intervention for children with mild to moderate language-based learning disabilities.
- Derive remediation strategies and goals from students’ psycho-educational evaluations as well as from diagnostic therapy, testing, and teaching.
- Evaluate students as needed to further define language strengths and weaknesses.
- Interpret language difficulties in terms of their impact on academic progress.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to establish and implement appropriate language goals for each student within a class setting.
- Provide individual and small group “pull-out” therapy as well as whole-class language instruction as appropriate.
- Complete speech and language sections for two written reports per school year and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
- Communicate effectively with parents and teachers.
- Serve a typical full-time caseload of 3 classrooms (36 students). The position is long-term beginning February - May 2024; Monday - Friday (7:45 – 2:45).
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
A Master’s degree in speech/language pathology, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, and a valid Georgia license in Speech/Language Pathology are required. Experience in a school setting is desirable and a background or experience in learning disabilities a plus. The Wardlaw School is currently seeking an outstanding professional to serve as a full-time technology specialist. The Wardlaw School is based on a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model where classroom teachers, reading specialists, and speech and language pathologists work together to help each child reach their full potential. The technology specialist is a member of the Wardlaw instructional team, assisting the faculty in integrating appropriate and innovative technologies to support, enhance, and extend dyslexia remediation in grades K-5. The candidate must have an education background (teaching or speech-language pathology) and experience/degree in instructional technology. The Wardlaw Language and Literacy Technology Specialist reports to the Wardlaw directors and is a full-time employee.

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited university and experience teaching in the areas of learning disabilities, reading, speech/language pathology, or special education as well as experience or degree in Instructional Technology
- Evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of current and future uses of Educational Technology in grades K-6
- Research and propose new ways to enhance teaching and learning, promote innovation, and foster purposeful, meaningful, and creative integration of technology
- Serve as a liaison between the technology department and faculty, creating a deeper understanding of faculty and staff needs
- Collaborate with teachers to understand language/reading goals and suggest appropriate programs or assistive technology to support those goals
- Provide ongoing collaboration to assess the effectiveness of technology or programs to meet student needs, collaboratively teaching or leading classroom instruction as appropriate
- Provide technology instruction within our STEAM program (e.g., drones, robotics, 3D printing)
- Maintain high levels of expertise and skill in strategies for supporting instruction of students with dyslexia
- Assess, recommend, and implement assistive technology with students
- Consult, coordinate, and train teachers and parents on various technology hardware and software
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Set up, maintain and troubleshoot online subscriptions and software programs
- Have prior experience with elementary-aged students with diverse learning profiles
- Hold a current Georgia teaching certificate or be eligible for certification

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
The reading specialist, in collaboration with a classroom teacher, designs and implements curriculum using research-based methodologies. To address the underpinnings of dyslexia, our teachers utilize an oral to written to oral language approach where students leave us as capable and confident writers and speakers. With our small class size (9-10 students) and collaborative model, our teachers are able to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of their students.
