2021 Montag Family Community Lecture
February 23, 2021 at 7:00 pm - March 11, 2021 at 8:30 pm
FREE
Join the Atlanta Speech School and Cox Campus for a live, virtual lecture featuring award-winning investigative reporter, Emily Hanford.
For more than 25 years, Emily has been investigating why so many American children cannot read. Currently senior education correspondent for APM Reports, the documentary and investigative group at American Public Media, Emily’s focus is on equity, the way we teach reading today, and literacy – arguing that there can be no social justice until we ensure that every child has access to reading. During this lecture, hear Emily’s thoughts on how the global pandemic has compounded this existing crisis, and how we can rely on the science of language and literacy to ensure every child and student will read proficiently.
The lecture is a “must see” for any parent, caregiver, teacher, or advocate for children who are reading, will read, or who struggle with reading; as well as for scholars who are studying the science, and for anyone concerned about today’s literacy crisis.
