In the Wardlaw School the science of constructing the reading brain intersects with the art of masterful teaching.

Our classroom teachers plan the instructional program for their students in collaboration with our Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Reading Specialists. Together they design and implement a cohesive instructional plan. This comprehensive and collaborative approach builds the complex reading, language and self-regulatory abilities that support increasing levels of academic achievement.

All instruction is diagnostic and prescriptive guided by an understanding of each child’s unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses, and responsiveness to ongoing instruction. Students have the opportunity for individual remediation in any academic or language area that requires more intensive intervention. Our teachers are trained in multiple research- based methods of instruction, allowing us to select the methodology that best meets the needs of each student.
