for Hamm Center Students ages 2-1/2 to 5 years
Camp Chatterbox is a fun-filled day camp open to boys and girls ages 2-1/2 to 5 years who are deaf or hard of hearing. The camp is a 4-week program and enrollment is limited to six students per group. Groupings are determined on the basis of age and ability level.
Through language-rich experiences and instruction, classroom activities focus on developing communication skills, auditory comprehension, speech production, and spoken language. Fun camp activities are provided to develop academic and social skills throughout the curriculum. Individual speech and auditory therapy are also provided to campers during their session.
Camp Dates for 2019
June 10 – July 3 (No camp on July 4th and July 5th)
Camp Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
All campers bring a sack lunch from home
Financial aid is available for qualifying students
Registration for Speech School Students: For students who are currently enrolled in the Atlanta Speech School's Katherine Hamm Center, parents may simply send the completed camp application form along with a 50% deposit to school. A 50% deposit is required at time of application with remaining payment due in full by May 1, 2019. The deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable.
Registration for Students who do not attend the Speech School: For all students who are not currently enrolled in the Atlanta Speech School's Katherine Hamm Center and are applying to Camp Chatterbox, a review of the student's learning profile is necessary to determine if the program will meet the needs of each student. The following information will be reviewed for possible placement:
Early Childhood Questionnaire Form completed by child's current teacher is required for those children who are enrolled in a preschool or school program other than the Atlanta Speech School.
An Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
Any diagnostic testing such as audiology, speech, language, and psychoeducational evaluations.
Refund Policy: In the event your child cannot attend camp, tuition may be refunded if your child's place can be filled. However, no refunds are given after May 1, 2019.
