Leave a Literacy Legacy

Invest Now to Help Each and Every Child

The Atlanta Speech School Endowment is composed of donor directed funds in addition to unrestricted funds that allow opportunities to match donor interests with the School's needs. The annual earnings from gifts to endowment provide the Speech School with predictable sources of income, stability and flexibility now and in the future - which is vital to our mission as we help each child find their voice.

As an Endowment donor, you will provide a permanent gift that will benefit the Atlanta Speech School's children now and for generations to come. Your family name (or however you choose to name your Endowment) will be honored in perpetuity, supporting our 85+ year legacy of providing the very best language and literacy instruction to each and every child we serve.

Staff Endowment: Our #1 Strategic Initiative

In the Board of Directors' latest strategic plan, growing staff endowment is the #1 priority, to allow us to continue to attract, compensate and retain the nation's top experts. As our competition for educators grows, we want to stay poised to meet this challenge.

Endowment Priorities

TEACHERS AND STAFF

Gifts of all sizes to this fund support the Speech School’s strategic priority to address staff needs. Support in this area allows the School to attract, develop and retain excellent staff with competitive salaries, professional development, employee health and wellness and other areas of staff needs.

FINANCIAL AID

Gifts to this fund allow us to keep our 85+ year commitment to accept families, regardless of their economic circumstances. Our financial aid budget breakdown is as follows: 40% from restricted financial aid endowment, Annual Fund and other sources; 40% from the Georgia tax credit program and 20% from the Language and Literacy Gala.

UNRESTRICTED ENDOWMENT

The School’s unrestricted endowment consists of assets that can be spent, saved, invested and distributed at the discretion of the Speech School. This financial support allows our Board of Directors to allocate resources flexibly, adapting to the evolving needs of our staff and students as well as investing in our innovative school programs and cutting-edge capital projects.

John and Augusta King

We established this Endowment Fund to show our deep appreciation for the service and dedication of all Speech School staff and teachers, who profoundly impacted our education many years ago in the Anne & Jim Kenan Preschool. We were significantly shaped by our friends and classmates from the Hamm Center, and hope that the annual proceeds from this Fund will benefit both teachers and students in this program for years to come.”
