GEORGIA TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
Thanks to the support of the Speech School community, we’ve awarded $4,913,111 in financial aid to 625 students through this program since 2010.
Georgia sets aside $120 million dollars in tax credits each year for Georgia residents and businesses to direct their state taxes to the school of their choice. These redirected tax dollars provide financial aid to public school students who seek an independent school option such as the Atlanta Speech School.
Participating schools partner with an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) that administers the program on behalf of the state. The Speech School partners with Apogee Scholarship Fund whose staff guides our constituents throughout the process.
Participation is easy. Here's how it works:
- Applications accepted June – December 15 every year (for participation the following year).
- In the new year, your application is submitted to the Georgia Department of Revenue for approval.
- Once approved, you have 60 days to pay on your credit (payment is due in March every year)
- Click here to apply by December 15.
Please note that our participation in the Georgia Tax Credit program is not related to the Speech School’s Annual Fund – click HERE to support our other educational priorities.

Reminder: This is money Georgia taxpayers already owe the state. Tax credit payments to our partner Apogee Scholarship Fund only count in the same calendar year in which the donation was approved and paid.
