Why Direct Your Taxes to the Atlanta Speech School?

For children who enter the specialty programs of the Atlanta Speech School, the results are life-changing.  Children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to listen, speak and read, ready to enter and succeed in mainstream classrooms as soon as possible.  Preschoolers with speech and/or language delays blossom developmentally and socially as they develop language, speech articulation, fine motor skills, and sensory processing. Children with dyslexia learn not only to decode words, but more importantly, to comprehend and analyze what they read, and to translate that understanding so they can fully express themselves both verbally and in their writing.  The trajectory of these children's lives is forever changed, as they develop into confident learners they are meant to be - leading choice-filled lives and making the most difference in the lives of others.

Direct Your State Income Taxes to Provide Financial Aid for our Life-Changing Services

With the new bill HB 517, Georgia increased the cap from $100 to $120 million dollars in tax credits for Georgia residents and businesses to direct their taxes to provide financial aid to public school students who seek an independent school option such as the Atlanta Speech School. By directing a portion of your state tax obligation to the Atlanta Speech School, you can help us continue our commitment to providing our transformative services to every child who needs them, regardless of a family's financial circumstance. While this has been the commitment of the Atlanta Speech School for more than 85 years, the need for financial aid has never been greater than now.

Taxpayer Benefits

This is money Georgia taxpayers already owe to the state. Taxpayers receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against their state liability. Limits are up to $2,500 (filing individually), $5,000 (filing jointly), and 75% for C-corps or Trusts. Pass-Through entities may participate at up to $25,000 per year. Payment is made to Apogee Scholarship Fund, a non-profit Student Scholarship Organization (SS) managing the program on the School's behalf.

In addition, you can:

  • Control how some of your taxes are spent
  • Take a dollar-for-dollar CREDIT against your state tax liability
  • Pay by credit card and earn reward points
  • Split your gift among several participating schools
